Damn you, caffeine

I broke my "no caffeine after noon" rule yesterday and paid for it. I tossed and turned all night, one of the worst sleeps in a while. Part of it was due to thinking about the upcoming weekend and how freakin' awesome it's gonna be. A few more hours...

I feel awesome

After some basement sprints this morning I feel great. I can't stop thinking about this coming weekend as I get to reunite with most of my Madison buddies and go nuts.

Everything I Do...

I did this weekend. Or at least that's what it seems like.

Friday: I got home and there were already people there waiting to go somewhere. Six of us went to Major's for dinner, drinks, and hockey/baseball. I had the walleye and broccoli. Mmmm. We came back to our place for some more hockey and drinks, then we headed to my friend's on Grand and had a drink there. We finally decided on the Lodge, which was a good pick as I unexpectedly found some more friends there. After a few more drinks and dancing, we went back to my place to eat some leftovers and crash.

Saturday: Got in some poker in the morning, then got my hair cut in the afternoon. Then, St. Cloud. I got up to my friend's place there and as I was walking inside, I hear a "Jeff?" from behind me. I look and see a girl I knew from Madison. Wow, how random, and what a small world. It's really weird since I'll be in Madison next weekend so I'll see her again in a few days. Anyways we played some darts and video games then headed to the Carpet to meet up with our regular bartender. I always look forward to St. Cloud since I know I'll probably only spend about twenty bucks over the whole night. While at the bar, I actually felt a little old for a second. I was talking to a friend of a friend that I just met only to have another friend tap me on the shoulder and say "Dude, she's married." Oh. Okay... does that mean I have start looking for rings now? Man. On another note, one of my friends has some serious growing up to do. I mean yeah, he's my friend and all, but wow he's got some issues... basically he was just a tough guy all night. I won't go into details, but I hope someday it doesn't catch up with him in a bad way. Anyways it was another fun night in the Cloud.

Sunday on the drive back home my roommate and I stopped for some greasy greasy food at KFC. Ick and yum at the same time to that. I don't do that very often, but hey you only live once right? We got back and watched some 24, then decided to make a good dinner. We headed to Cub and decided on a whole beef tenderloin (3.5 pounds of filet mignon:) with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and Texas toast. I made a cream-based red wine sauce to go with it. Yes, it was good. Around 10 or so I hit a brick wall and made for an early bedtime. I'm glad that happened as I'm refreshed and ready to go today... Thursday I leave for Madison, sweet sweet Madison...

Another great night and Easter

Saturday started with dinner at Major's with the Twins on, then we went back to our place and had some people over for UFC 59. A bottle of wine later, some of us went downtown to Sgt. (something?) and sat outside, where we met some others we knew. One of my good friends I hadn't seen in a long time was out and was ridiculous as he was spilling drinks and threw an ashtray into the street. That Sgt. place has a big outdoor area, so I think I'll be there a lot this summer. The night ended as we got back to my place and people were hungry so I made some late night spaghetti.

Easter dinner was Outback steakhouse with my dad, mmm. No work cooking and good food. I had a huge meal that I barely finished, a bloomin' onion and bread to start, caesar salad, then a 20 oz. Porterhouse with broccoli and a glass of Pinot Noir. I wasn't hungry for a while after that. Back at the 'rents I saw my mom who had just gotten back from my grandma's house, so it was nice to see her too. I left with bucket full of fresh crappie that my dad caught up north at our cabin yesterday, mmm again. I just made some too, damn it was good. I'm having more for dinner tomorrow night, can't wait. Time to sleep!

An awesome night

It started with a good workout, then made some Ketel One strawberry infused vodka. Went to Grand, made some goood drinks, then went to see a friend's band. Caught up with some peeps I haven't seen in awhile, then we split and went to Brother's where we met up with a birthday crowd. About 10 of us ended up on the dance floor and I went nuts. My favorite part was when I was shakin' my ass on Big K and she turned me around and reminded me to stay facing her as she pointed and said, "Jeff. Boobs." I was like okay...! Then we headed for Pizza Luce and somehow one buddy got punched twice by some angry black guy, nothing else happened as the guy had about 10 buddies with him. Don't know how it started, but there just had to be some drama. Got back to Grand, ate pizza, walked to the gas station and bought a burrito and an ice cream cone, and crashed.

Since everyone's home for Easter weekend, looks like tonight will be a repeat... :)

Easter weekend etc.

This weekend it's just one roommate and me as the other is in Boston to see a friend and the Red Sox home opener. Not sure yet what I'll do tonight... but it will probably start out on Grand Ave. as usual. I wanted to go to a Twins game this weekend but I realized that if I didn't have tickets by now, they'll be nosebleeders as we're playing the Yankees for the first weekend series at home.

Sunday I'm going back the 'rents house for Easter which should be nice as I haven't been there for a while now.

One thing I've known about myself for a long time is that I can't help but be competitive if there's competing to be done. I sometimes hate it, as I get all worked up over something trivial. For instance, yesterday at work our manager had everyone in the lab draw out a floor plan for our new setup as we are expanding. Someone decided to see how many instruments we could fit in our given space, and I instantly had to try to one-up him rather than make an efficient lab setup. IMO it's stupid how competetive my nature makes me sometimes but I just can't help it. I just have to tell myself "it's not a competition" and I can usually reason myself to sanity. But damn it I hate that first impulse.

I hate missing the nice weather outside as I'm inside without a window view, boo hoo. Maybe I can get out on the golf course this weekend, I'd like that. We'll see...

Filet Mignon, etc.

I made Filet on Sunday with a red wine sauce, mmm. I would have taken a picture but I devoured it too quickly. I didn't just go out and buy it, my parents won it at a meat raffle and gave it to me, lucky me. Later on Sunday I made Jerk pork chops, also really good. I hadn't cooked in a while so it was nice to get back on that track.

Last night I ended up filling the last spot in a group from work that went to dinner and the Wild game. It was a good time as I got to have drinks with co-workers and get to know them a bit better. When we got to the game, though, DJV and me got sent to the upper lever as the other eight got lower deck tickets. What? Yeah they didn't tell us until we were inside the arena that we would be sitting separated. Hmm... well anyways we had a good time as we ended up going to the lower lever and snatching some 7th row seats, better than where the others were sitting. Ha! And the Wild won the last game of the season, nice but no playoffs this year. Hopefully we re-sign Gabby, actually we had better or our attendance will plummet. Damn that guy is fast.

Weekend details

Didn't have a chance to blog yesterday, so here it is now...

Friday I'm at the liquor store with my roommate, and I decide, hey, it was a boring week. Let's not end it that way. I'm thinking this as I grab a bottle of Cuervo from the shelf. We get back to our place and some others come over and we start playin' Mario Party (7), a great game. Well, after every game I lose, I punish myself with some Jose. Let's just say I lost a lot of games. We end up downtown, see a bit of the dance floor, and Perkins again to end the night. Just ridiculous. The next day wasn't even that bad either, I think my worst hangovers come from beer.

More on the food later.

Boring week

That covers it. I hope this weekend can match last weekend's fun. Only thing I have planned is some TV, Wisco is in the NCAA hockey finals and The Masters is all weekend. Watch Tiger drive, watch Tiger putt, watch Tiger win. At least that's my prediction.

Mifflin

The countdown dwindles. Our group of friends has a string of about 40 emails talking about this thing already. It's barely April, and I'm itchy for it. I told my friend online that I'm going to go crazy, and I might die. As I was sending this he sent basically the same thing back. I owe this friend a scare or two as he actually had me believing that he was going to shit on me in Vegas. Someone offered him five bucks to do it and he had me convinced. I was seriously pissed. He gun git it. Maybe I should have taken the Monday after off to recover....

Drugged up

I Nyquiled myself last night at 7:30 so I could get a full night's sleep. I was out by 8:30 and found it hard to get up at 8:00. It's now 3:00 pm and I'm still groggy!!! Time to start taking half doses or something, this is ridiculous!!! This kind of tired is way better than the tired I was yesterday though.

Dead

Dead tired. My eyes were burning for sleep until about an hour ago. Saturday night was a hoot. I literally transformed from sober to trashed in about an hour. I can't believe I didn't fall into a stream when we were mini golfing. I was trying to balance on the rocks and found myself grabbing onto trees to keep my balance.

I think tonight I'll hit the hay right after 24. A good night's rest would be awesome right about now.
