The most boring day, ever.

EVER.

Filling in some weekend gaps

So I've thought of a few things to do over this four day weekend, see at least one movie (there's like 5 I want to see right now) and attend the Taste of MN. Grilling is also on this agenda but hey that's a given. I really want to be outside on a lake on the 4th but I don't know if that will happen. If all falls through I'll get some damn good food to grill (Filet, no thinking here) and have a bunch of people over. I can't wait for this week to be over with.

Sweet weekend

Friday night: Just relaxed. Worked out and got a good night's sleep.

Saturday: Went with my roommate to his work to buy a car, didn't drive my car there as I planned on buying one. I did. '03 Mitsubishi Diamante CR-X. Black/green tint paint. And A/C. And I feel safe driving again, which is good, right? Later on we watched some UFC with some drinks then went downtown for a girl's b-day. She had VIP at the Drink but some of the dudes I was with weren't let up as they were wearing tennis shoes and hats. Stoooopid. I stayed with them for awhile down in the "normal" area, then went up for a bit to see how VIP the VIP section really was. Not much different except for people thinking "Woo I'm VIP, what's up" but whatever. One of my roommates was drinking Jager/Red Bull MIXES and transformed into a maniac in about 0.020394 seconds. Eventually he let it out between two video game machines at a neighboring bar. This happened when I was over talking to someone else, so when I came back to join the group they were all gone. WTF? I went back to the drink to only find Big K there, so we shared a cab back. Fun night, very liquid.

Sunday: Woke up, sold my other car to my future brother-in-law's younger brother, then put on two racks of ribs to slowly break down some of the toughness in the meat. Following up the ribs were cilantro corn, buffalo chicken, A1/Worcestershire burgers and hash browns. Mmm. Next went to a Twins game with an Old Madi roommate and M at the big inflatable. M was surprised that the Vikings played REAL football there on such a small field (HAHAHA j/k). Had a dome dog, chips, and a beer there too. We won so all was good. Came back, ate more food, then a neighbor came over for help moving a fridge. So four of us went across the street to move a huge fridge and get to know the neighbors a bit better. I must say that all of the neighbors I've met are extremely nice and polite. I don't think I could ask for nicer neighbors. For our help they rewarded us with part of a huge and heavy chocolate cake. I had already been gorging all day so I decided to go all out. So I ate some cake and it was so good, one of the best I've ever had. Then we ordered pizza. So yeah, went a little crazy on the fat yesterday and I can feel it today. It's gonna be a cardio week, that's for sure. Was it worth it? Yes. Definitely.

I hope I'm lithium ion

So yesterday was all work and no play, which make me go crazy! Actually I'm fine, the weekend will be that much more sweet. Or will it? If I have to come in on the weekend then I really might go crazy. Hopefully that won't happen. Anyways last night I didn't get home until 8:45, then worked out until 10:15, then took a sleeping pill and was out by 11:00. I woke up at 8 still groggy, but I'm wide awake now. I haven't gotten that much sleep in weeks, and I hope that I won't have to ever again. Or at least for another few years. Or weeks. Whatever. So yeah for all you nerd folk (not me), I hope I'm like a lithium ion battery and last longer than most without recharging like that. Nope, not a nerd.

So I got lunch with 3 others today at Pei Wei, a chinese restaurant. On a side note, I once got a dish labeled spicy at a chinese restaurant and got the mildest version of spicy, only to sweat buckets and not enjoy my food. So what did I do today? I got the Pei Wei Spicy Beef entree, only to sweat buckets and not enjoy my food. Good job me, [live and learn]x2. The thing that really sucks is the FACT that food that spicy is spicy coming out too :(

Just kill me now

I'm a 2x4, I'm-a-bored(!)

... 5 minutes pass

Yup, still bored

Doof

So I've been thinking I should buy some safety pads of some sort for rollerblading as I reach some speeds that would scrape me up pretty bad if I bit it, and I've been scolded by elders when I've told them how fast I get going and that I don't have pads yet. So yesterday I was doing my usual trip around the neighborhood, no falls or slips. I'm almost back to my house and I decide to push it and do another lap. I'm going 0.00001 miles per hour as I wait to cross the road and WHAM, I hit a small pothole and I'm face down on the pavement. I broke my fall with my hands with a lot of pressure on my healing stitches would. No real harm done but some there was some blood from cuts on my hands. I can't imagine doing this going 20 mph, so yeah I think I'm going to go to the store today and buy some sort of protection. Yikes, what could have been.

Wedding blog

First off, congratulations to the bride and groom, what a big step.

I was lucky to get a room at the Hilton as I called on Friday and one had just opened up. My own room with my own king sized bed. Sweet.

I got dressed up and left my house with plenty of time to spare. It's a damn good thing too, as I realized that I had forgotten the gift after I had driven about 10 minutes. Now I think many people would have seen this as a really bad thing and gotten upset, but I was in a pretty happy mood and turned lemons into lemonade as I saw it as a good thing... I could have showed up emptyhanded, then I would have felt like a fool and gotten mad at myself. So no harm done there. One thing that did bother me a bit, though, was my hot hot car. Just temperature hot. I hated to start sweating in my nice clothes, but I did my best to hang my left arm out the window to use it as a cooling fin. It actually worked quite well. I don't plan on having to do that for much longer though... I found someone to sell my car to for a lot more than I would get for trade-in value... all I can say is that they must be desperate for a car. So, that's at the top of the list, I'll be looking into that this week. Something gas efficient and with A/C are all I care about at this point. Oh, sweet sweet A/C.

Anyways I showed up to the wedding about a half hour early and met with some old faces I haven't seen in years. How's he doing, how's she doing, stuff like that. I sat with my parents and one sister during the wedding which was a typically long Catholic ordeal. Man, I didn't think I'd have to deal with this, but I bit the hell out of my lips during the entire thing holding back tears. I haven't been to an emotional event like this in a while so it caught me by surprise, but I handled it without any tissues. The bride, however, cried during the whole thing :)

The dinner was good, and our table location in front of the bridesmaids didn't hurt either. After dinner some more conversations ensued and I got asked about what I'm doing now and if I have a wedding anytime in the future. Hmm, I'd say at least 5 years until I'll have to deal with that. The father of the groom, who I also know very well from hockey growing up, told me to ask his daughter to tell me which bridesmaids were single. The answer went something like "well she's got a boyfriend, she's married, she's also got a boyfriend...." I think there was only one single bridesmaid, and she was probably a foot taller than me. Super. Well so much for that. The evening pressed on with a cash bar and open beer bar, and people made their way to the dance floor. Somehow, some way, the groom's sister decided that she thought I could do the "worm" (a dance move, if you don't know). Hmm, what sort of vibe am I giving out? Well it turns out I do actually know how to do this, so I obliged and said I would do it... later. Anyways everyone danced themselves crazy, and it was an awesome time. When I finally got pressed hard to do my little worm dance I added some dramatics as I pretended to be falling over faceplant style but I was really just starting it that way. It must have looked good as after I did it a big circle formed around me, expecting more. I wasn't ready for this, so I panicked and ran away :P

After the reception, the young crowd headed for the bar. Unfortunately, somehow the bride's ex-boyfriend was at the same bar we went to... they were talking and I don't know what was said but she ended up in tears and he ended up getting kicked out of the bar. That's about all I know. After that things seemed fine. If he was waiting outside we had a big dude with us so I wasn't worried... plus I have been known to kick some ass in my day... wait that was a dream, damn.

Finally the bride and groom were ready to get back to the hotel, so we walked them back. At this point I was hungry again, and I began to ask where I could find some junk food pizza sort of place. At the hotel I asked the receptionist this, and she was like "oh, here take this, I don't want it". It was a freshly delivered box of cheese sticks from Domino's, untouched. Uhh, jackpot! I gave her some money for it then proceeded to protect that box like a hungry little critter until I got it back to my room. So yeah, it was a happy ending, just me and my breadsticks with dunking sauce. Wow, what a fun time.

So who's next? It might actually be my sister. We'll see. Time to get my 4 hours of sleep now, 'nite!

I wanna be a wedding crasher

So I finally got ahold of the groom last night and got the information about the hotel, which was apparently booked. I called to check for vacancy and there was a room open, happy. I wish I could have just relied on crashing with a bridesmaid so I wouldn't have had to drop a hondo on the room, but hey if it happens I won't care I guess ;) All I know is that it's gonna be a blast. No doubt in my mind.

Tonight??? No idea. After work I'm gonna get a quick haircut so I'm not wearing a mop when I reunite with everyone I haven't seen in a long time at the wedding. Other than that, no plans for tonight. I'm actually thinking about staying in so I can get a good night's sleep for once and so that I get up in time on Saturday feeling great. We'll see what happens...

Need sleepy

So yeah, about 4 hours per night for the past 10 days. The only thing kickstarting me in the morning is Red Bull and some rollerblading or lifting... I just wonder if I would be bouncing off the walls if I somehow managed 8 hours one night. When I was in school and I needed to get one really good night's rest I'd Nyquil myself at around 7 PM and then there was no way for me to stay up past 9 PM. Nowadays I like to use up my time after (or before work) as much as I can, and if I did go to bed early that would leave me about, oh, 3 hours of free time per day. Screw that. I'll take the jerky wakeup and in and out tiredness to get an extra 5 hours of free time. Geez I must be bored, I'm analyzing my daily time/energy allocation.

This weekend I have a wedding to go to, so I need to pick up a gift of some sort or just get some cash and and a card. I know it will be fun as I'll get to see a bunch of friends I haven't met before and meet people on the bride's side. I can't even imagine myself being married anytime soon, but hey we'll see what happens.

Oh, my new computer is huge and decked out, well worth the money in the long run. I figure that since I've earned and will earn a decent sum per year using it, it is definitely worth the investment. I'll be able to reliably play at least 8 tables at a time now, which may take away from the average earnings per table but increase the overall hourly rate. I'm eager to see how 8-10 tables compares to 6. Should be interesting.

Is it Friday yet?????

Happenings in the last 5 days

Friday: fun night on Grand, and stayed on Grand. Started at my friend's house on Grand, went to a Piano bar on Grand, then went to the Wild Onion on Grand.

Saturday: birthday party for a friend at our house with a keg and good food. I made buffalo chicken and NY strip steaks on the grill and had a bunch of people over, even some Madison friends. So fun I didn't have the urge to go downtown.

Sunday: some great TV. New season of Entourage began, and Dane Cook's new series on HBO began.

Monday: hmm, got really mad at computer, so mad I almost went Office Space on it, but found my senses just in time. The fan broke and it heats up so within 10 minutes of it being on it would give me the blue screen of death. That happened about 01920318209 times. The first blue screen cost me about $150 as I was in 5 poker tournaments at the time. Poo to that.

Tuesday: retaliation for Monday's occurences. I went straight to Best Buy after work, applied for and got a Best Buy credit card, and got a new laptop. 17" widescreen with nice features, it had better not p me off like my old one. Pick it up after work today, hell yes.

I can't sleep!

The past 3 nights I've had about 3 hours of sleep apiece as I can't stop thinking about the WSOP. It's so over my head and I'm realizing it more and more... It might be Nyquil time tonight. zzzzzzzzz

Shaping up

Those damn hills are getting easier to rollerblade up. My legs are still burning from this morning, but they're definitely getting stronger. I hope to be able to do a rollerblade marathon later this summer, but I didn't think my legs would start off so weak.

Hmm, still can't believe it...

The weekend and, yes, some poker blog

Awesome weekend.

Friday night was a flashback as I went to a house party. It was fun, but unfortunately I found the couch early at around 2 AM with an unfinished text message in-hand. I'm just glad I didn't wake up with permanent marker on my face or something like that...

Saturday I woke up on that couch and went outside and found $20 on the ground, sweet. My car was on Grand Ave. in St. Paul and we were in Minneapolis so we decided to hike it. On the way there we stopped for breakfast at Baker's Square, and while we were eating I realized that I had a dentist appointment at noon! This was at about 10:45. So near the end of breakfast I called a cab to take me to Grand so I could race back to White Bear to make my appointment. But not before playing the stuffed animal crane thing, I can't help myself. As I was playing it, my friends were waiting on the bench and were asked by a couple walking in if they were waiting to be seated, to which they replied, "No we're just waiting for our friend to quit playing video games." At the same time a cute girl walked by and smiled... she watched as I was playing my last game so I asked her if I was good from the side (if you've played the crane game you know what I'm talking about). She smiled and said yes, but unfortunately I didn't get the Twins bear I was going for :( and she was with her dad so I didn't feel right doing any more flirting, but maybe I should have.

Anyways, I made my dentist appointment a few minutes late, which was fine... until the drilling started. I decided to be a tough guy and get my teeth drilled without novacaine. These weren't cavities, but were very prone to be soon so they had to drill away some decay and put in sealants. Believe me, the freakin' pain from that drilling will make me think about my oral hygiene a little more (not that it's bad! it's not!).

After the dentist I went home to the 'rents house as it was only a few miles away, and I made a chicken and corn on the cob lunch on the grill. Mmm.

The night consisted of Great Moments in Kung Fu Theatre History, to which I laughed my ass off. The streetfighter skit was awesome, I must say. I didn't know Tiny Tim knew how to fight. After that we went to Barfly, which I found to be wayy different that the bars I'm used to going to as this was upscale and not a college-student infested beer hall. Drinks, dancing, and girls on poles made it an awesome night :)

Now for what happened on Sunday. I woke up around 1 pm after being up until around 5 am, and went to see if there were any online tournaments to my liking. I saw a free tournament (actually it cost player points, but basically free) where the top five finishers would win a seat in The World Series of Poker main event with $1000 spending money and free hotel. In a nutshell, there were 1237 players, and I finished in the top five. So I'm going to the World Series of Poker. I can't believe it, and I won't believe it for awhile. A $10,000 seat in the biggest tournament in the world. And $1000 spending money and 10 days and nine nights in a hotel, all paid for. My roommates have already planned to take off work to get out there and live it up with me. Anyone else that wants to come, please do! I don't expect to beat the best players in the world, but if I somehow place at all I'll win a life-changing amount of money. I'm just happy to be there, not just the World Series, but in Vegas for 10 days, possibly my favorite place in the world. I leave July 27th. 52 days and counting...

Ready to go

Goal: Live up to last weekend's performance.

It's Friday, I just got paid, feelin' great, ready to go. Waaoouuuu!

The short week seems long

Is it over yet? Missing last weekend doesn't help and looking forward to this packed weekend doesn't help either.

Another thing: I HATE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR IN MY HOT CAR. Temperature-hot, I mean. I'd rather stay an extra hour at work than have to sit through crap traffic. Ugh.

Randomly: to join a gym or not? Pros are all the weights for all different muscles and (hopefully) some eye candy. Cons are it costs money and I would have to transport back and forth. Damn it was nice having free access in college.

Tick tick tick...
