Dizzy Bizzy and 2 movies

Friday night was up in St. Cloud, starting out seeing Jackass 2. Oh, my, god, they are crazy. Very entertaining, but wow, some of the stuff they do... just wow. After that, a few hours at the Carpet where we met up with others for drinks and a little dancing. Post-bar time, a crazy dude I know decides to literally rip his jeans to shreds and run around outside completely naked, talking to the neighbors and everything. Wow. He was quite embarrassed the next day.

Saturday was back in GV, starting with UFC and ending downtown at Bootleggers. After the UFC some others went to a more local bar where another crazy friend decided to go nuts and get kicked out of the bar forcefully, almost get arrested, and cause fights back at his place with another friend ending up with a black eye. Yikes. Glad I chose downtown...

Today was the Vikings losing, boo, the Badgers losing, boo, but a great movie, in my opinion, The Illusionist starring Edward North, Paul Giamatti, and Jessica Biel. It was recommended by a friend and while I know not everyone likes slower movies like this one, I loved it. I'd give it a 9 out of 10 as it was intriguing, suspenseful, romantic, tear-jerking, had fitting music, and was a great story. So yeah, I liked it way more than I thought I would.

Dance, dance

Wow. I'm actually sore from dancing so much on Saturday night. Went to Barfly with 4, met my sister and her bf out, and didn't stop moving for, oh, about 3 hours. Upon entering I was told by some random dude to say "boom boom" at the door and we'd get in free. Sure man. Well, he wasn't lying. Five of us walked up to the girl taking the cover, said "boom boom", and got in free. Weird!

Pacing myself

There's so much I want to do on a daily basis, but sometimes I find I've tried to do so much the previous day that I'm not rested enough to do nearly as much as I should be able to. Ideally a day would include work, exercise, cleaning, more work as in poker, some rest time doing something like watching tv, hanging out with friends, paying bills, and so on. But realisitically this isn't possible, and I'm learning the hard way. Gradually I'm getting off of my sinusoidal lifestyle that I lived in college and growing up with a more linear schedule. I just need to make sure this slope stays positive. I'm 90% +/- 5% confident that this is my geekiest post ever, by the way.

A weekend in town

Haven't been in town for an entire weekend for a while, so it was nice to sleep-in in my own bed a few times. Friday was bowling at the really nice place near roommate's work and was a little more expensive than a Thursday night as everything was full price, but still very fun. I even tried DDR for the first time in an arcade, uhh, mistake. I wasn't exactly sober so I missed a ton of steps, but I still won. Ha. My friend and I both lost some dignity though... j/k

Saturday I got to sleep in (yesss) then got up and cooked a breakfast for those that stayed over. Saturday night was downtown at the Annex (first time), and 'twas very fun, even got to hit the dance floor.

Sunday was NFL day, so I picked up a ham to rotisserie and made some sides to go with it. My fantasy football team sucked this week as my big stars faltered, but it's only week 1. Oh well. Also did some cleaning with a roommate so the house is looking better than it has in months. I don't know how much longer we'll be there as our 1-year lease is up soon, after that it will be month to month or another 1-year, we'll see what happens.

Damn you, weather

Crap weather most of Labor Day weekend, nice weather during this week, and now crap again. BOOOOOO.

I made the news in Madison somehow. http://nbc15.madison.com/home/headlines/3865762.html
I'm in the video with a link at the top of this page.

Funny how geeky the whole thing seems, people getting mad about what they put online getting shared. Just be smart about it and you'll be fine, come on people.

This weekend? Nothing planned for tonight or tomorrow, but Sunday it's all NFL. I might head to St. Cloud to visit future wife (not really though), we'll see what happens with that.

Labor day weekend

Friday I was looking forward to for a few weeks, a Madison-alum-that-live-in-Minnesota get together. I picked up a buddy from his grandparents' after work and headed back to get ready. From there, two others showed up and we headed Uptown to meet more. We got a nice and early start at the Drink and got to enjoy some fresh air on the patio and fresh people ready for the weekend. After a few we hit Bar Abilene where I randomly ran into about 10 more that I knew, this I was not expecting. I caught up as best as I could and ended up on the dance floor for a bit with the birthday girl sister of one of my Madi friends... I wish I knew how to dance :)

Saturday morning included a (recently) rare occurence, me cooking. A nice greasy breakfast to start things off hit the spot. After picking up my phone from Bar Abilene (which had some random pictures on it from after the time I lost it...), we headed to Mankato in hopes of good weather and for a pontoon on a lake waiting for us. The sun poked out a few times during the few hours on the lake and we had rafts of beer floating around us, so all in all it was still a good afternoon despite the rain before and after the lake experience. Later we ended up in the 'Kato bars and... well, it was fun :)

Sunday took some time to get started, but I made it up and decided to stay another night as I don't get to see this bunch much. Before the evening we saw Crank, which was pure non-stop action. Great for a quick one-time flick, but not something I'll go back and see again in the theater. We started off the bar scene in a cheap watering hole, something I'm not used to. One could probably spend $20 bucks all night if they went there at 7 and stayed until close. Wow. After that we went to the bar with the Sunday night special as it seemed like the entire college was there. We got out a little early as it became uncomfortably packed and headed back to a friend's house to watch some TV... well, they watched, as it was bloody NASCAR, so I was basically put to sleep. Sorry, just not into that. Monday I headed back after a nice breakfast (made for me, I didn't have to cook, which was SOOO nice by the way) and then got back and headed to the MN State Fair with a roommate and M. The weather finally perked up and so did the fair crowds, from what I hear at least. I had a few brews to wash down fries, corn, alligator, cheese curds, and a pronto pup. I'm still working off all of that. To end the weekend, the Dane Cook special on HBO rocked... and then I cooked a turkey. And then I crashed.

A recent problem

Being in a rush lately, I've had to eat on the go. So I set whatever I'm eating in the passenger seat next to me while I'm driving on a paper towel or something. Well, twice this week my food has been sitting next to me while driving when I have to slam on the brakes, and my food goes flying onto the floor. Once this happened when someone cut me off, so I was extra pissed. Not just cut off, but my sandwich was instant garbage, and I was hungry at the time. Hopefully I won't be in such a rush after this week.

Please please please let there be nice weather this weekend...
