Sometimes, I trick myself for my own good

I have grown to know my tendencies, and sometimes I try to use them to my advantage. For example, I know I have a very obsessive compulsive behavior when I find something I like, such as a new recipe for salsa (which I used about once per day for a month until I grew sick of it). Well another something I can really get into is a video game, and I know this, once I start playing it I won't be able to stop, everything else be damned. I know this from experience, as I watched it happen a lot freshman year in college. Now I just don't put myself in a situation where I can get into trouble like this -- I just don't ever play. I'll be at someone's house looking for something to do, and I always naysay that option. It works.

I recently took advantage of my tendencies in a positive way again... I have something about keeping streaks. If I've done something for X consecutive days and it would slightly amuse my fancy to keep it going, I'll do whatever it takes to keep that streak going. For example, one year for Lent, I gave up pop (that's soda, for all you yokel weirdos). Just to keep the streak going, I continued to go pop-free... for two years. Weird. So anyways, recently that streak has been fitness -- in the gym or hockey for 28 days straight now. I've been hungover, tired, or just out of time, and I've made time. I need to find more ways to trick myself...
